De'longhi Nescafe Dolce Gusto, Genio S Touch
The Why!
Little bit different as this one was a gift from my wife for me and our son.
We had joked occasionally about getting a full on coffee machine but agreed that none us could probably be bothered to set it up and use it and it would take up too much counter space.
So my wife took all this in and went away, did some research and came back with this.
First Impressions
After the initial laughter as we understood what this was about we straight away took it out and set it up.
What I like about this is how compact it is and because of that, it remains out on the worktop.
My wife also managed to get the colour that matched the theme of the kitchen which is great.
This is was a special edition so as well as the coffee machine it came with;
- 2 boxes of Starbucks coffee pods
- Caramel Macchiato
- House Blend Americano
- 2 Writable mugs and pen
My wife also bought some other packs including a couple of Decaf varieties and a hot chocolate.
Using it
Its really quite simple.
It's worth noting that some varieties have more than one capsule, generally separate one for the milk. for now we will cover the one capsule
- Fill the tank with water
- Power on at the wall
- Lift the Lid (Locking Handle)
As you open the lid it will power on and the temperature light will flash until it reaches the correct temperature. This can be changed (Cold, Warm, Hot) - Pull out the capsule holder and insert your coffee pod, remember to make a note of the number of bars on the pod and insert it back in the machine.
- Close the lid and select the number of bars to match the pod.
*You can play around with this to suit your own taste, some drinks
Conclusion
Most coffees that we have tried have been, on the whole great. The hot chocolate less so.
Its important to set expectations, its better than instant but not quite Café strength or flavour but very convenient.
